Close-up of a paper wasp nest (Polistes species) attached to a metal surface. Several wasps, with distinctive yellow and black striped bodies and translucent wings, are tending to the hexagonal cells of the nest. The nest is small, made of chewed wood fibers mixed with saliva, giving it a papery appearance. The wasps are active and focused, possibly maintaining or expanding the nest. The setting appears to be outdoors, affixed beneath a black metal bar.
